I’m Brad Marshall, Psychologist, Director and Owner of the Screen and Gaming Disorder Clinic, father, and author of the parenting book “The Tech Diet for your Child & Teen”.
Welcome to my new parent tutorial video series.
This is not going to be a series about how gaming, social media, phones, computers, or laptops are the worst thing in the world – far from it – we’re going to talk about how to get some balance in this area for your kids.
I’m going to take you through a two-part video series – There are 5 videos in Part One, and 8 videos in Part Two.
Part One – I cover some of the research into gaming, social media, and gambling, as well as address the burning question of “When Should Parents be Concerned”
Part Two – The real world strategies you can use and implement in your home; these are my tried and tested 7 Unplugged Steps of how to actually achieve balance in your home. I also cover some common Q&A’s, and some troubleshooting of the most common issues I get asked in my clinic and at my talks.
Some of you are going to be tempted just to jump straight to Part Two for the strategies, and skip Part One – now if you want to do that, that’s okay, but I really do encourage you to take the time to watch Part One. Part One is so important because if you don’t understand the basics behind what I’m talking about, I find it’s really difficult for you to apply the 7 Unplugged Steps that I’m asking you to apply in Part One.
Are you worried about your child’s screen use? THEN THIS SERIES IS FOR YOU!
What is it?…
Part One is a 5 episode video series, and Part Two is an 8 episode video series, both presented by yours truly – I’m Brad Marshall, psychologist, author, parent, owner and director of the Screen and Gaming Disorder Clinic, based in Sydney. In over a decade of working in this field, I’ve developed this program that has helped hundreds of families with screen addiction, internet addiction, problems with gaming, gambling, and social media use.
What you’ll learn….
In Part One you’ll learn some of the current research into gaming, social media, gambling, and why it is so addictive, and then the all important 64 million dollar question – “when should parents panic?”
Part Two is all about my jargon-free advice, which gives a clear, tried and tested plan for parents who have had enough and are serious about changing the way their kids use and interact with technology. Part Two follows on from the research of Part One, and gets into the “how”. These 8 videos cover the nuts and bolts, and outline exactly how to implement my Tech Diet in your home. You’ll also learn how to overcome and manage any barriers or issues in the troubleshooting section.
How long is the series?
Part One is 5 episodes – for a total watch time of roughly 45 minutes, and Part Two is 8 episodes, for a total watch time of around 45 minutes. An hour and a half total, to help regain your family’s sanity.
